The White Sox impressive resume continues to grow as Chris Sale is named American League Pitcher of the Month for May.

This is the South Sider's second consecutive monthly award after Jake Peavy received the same honor in April.

Sale went 4-1 with a 1.71 ERA, recorded 35 strikeouts, and has limited opponents to a .181 batting average over five starts and six games throughout the month. The 23-year old left-hander led the AL in ERA and ranks third in opponents average and eighth in strikeouts.

Sale's 7.0 scoreless IP and 15 strikeouts in his May 28 victory against Tampa Bay left him on a three-game winning streak with a 0.92 ERA.

In his first full season as a starter, Sale is 6-2 with a 2.34 ERA. He's pitched 61 strikeouts and six quality starts over 10 games, allowing three runs or less in his nine starts.

Sale's honor is the fifth AL award the Sox have won during the course of the 2012 season. He now joins Peavy, as well as Paul Konerko and Philip Humber, who each earned Player of the Week honors.
