Per Mark Gonzales of the Chicago Tribune, Zach Stewart will start Monday's BP Crosstown Cup contest, giving both Jake Peavy and Chris Sale extra rest in advance of their next outings. Peavy was scheduled to start Monday, but he'll now throw on Tuesday with Gavin Floyd finishing off the series Wednesday.

Sale will now start Friday's series opener against Milwaukee.

"He's getting extra days now," pitching coach Don Cooper said on June 9 of Sale. "Believe me, everything we can do to keep him healthy and strong and keep him going out there and doing what he's doing, it's getting taken care of."

Sale labored through 5 23 innings on Friday, allowing five runs on seven hits with four walks. He threw 107 pitches in what was statistically his worst start of the season to date.

Stewart has appeared in 17 games this season, posting a 5.18 ERA in 24 13 innings with four walks, 15 strikeouts and six home runs allowed. In 11 starts last season between Toronto and Chicago, Stewart's ERA was 6.00, the product of allowing opponents to have a .915 OPS against him. But he did take a perfect game into the eighth inning on Sept. 2 against Minnesota, finishing with a one-hit, nine-strikeout shutout of the Twins.
