The White Sox will wear throwback uniforms each Sunday home game during the upcoming 2012 season. The white jersey with red pin stripes are from the 1972 season and feature red numbers on the front and back in additon to a Sox patch on the sleeve.

There are 13 Sunday games at U.S. Cellular Field this year, beginning Apr. 15 against Prince Fielder and the Tigers.

Being a part of those early 1970s White Sox teams, with a leader like Chuck Tanner and exciting players such as Dick Allen, Wilbur Wood and a young Goose Gossage, remains one of the fondest times in my career, said former Sox slugger Bill Melton according to a press release from the team. The red pinstripes and red baseball cap will bring back a lot of great memories for Sox fans from that generation.

Stay tuned to WhiteSoxTalk for a chance to win one of these jerseys signed by Melton. We will also give away an autographed red hat.
