White Sox Abreu fourth in early first base voting for All-Star Game

The White Sox haven't gotten off to the start they envisioned in 2015 and the early results in the 2015 MLB All-Star Vote have shown that.

MLB released the first update of the fan votes for this year's All-Star game in Cincinnati on Tuesday and first baseman Jose Abreu is the only White Sox player to be listed as one of the top vote-getters in their respective positions. Abreu is fourth in first baseman voting with 222,288 votes behind Miguel Cabrera (1,347,351), Eric Hosmer (1,101,738) and Mark Teixeira (342,788).

Abreu's power numbers haven't quite been what they were last year when he was invited to the All-Star Game in Minnesota. Abreu has totaled eight home runs over his first 43 games while he hit 15 over that same span last year. The 28-year old is still posting a solid slash line (.284/.346/.497) and has found his home run stroke over the past few days. Heading into Thursday, Abreu has hit two home runs in his last four games after failing to go deep since May 9th.

Last year, Abreu, shortstop Alexei Ramirez and pitcher Chris Sale, thanks to the Final Vote fan voting, represented the South Siders at the All-Star Game.
