The White Sox have acquired pitcher Anthony Ranaudo from the Texas Rangers in exchange for pitcher Matt Ball, the team announced Thursday.

Ranaudo, 26, has been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte.

In two games this season for the Rangers, Ranaudo went 1-0 with seven earned runs in 3.2 innings pitched. He was also 1-1 with a 2.02 ERA in three starts with Class AAA Round Rock, recording 18 strikeouts and allowing six runs.

Ranaudo was drafted with the 39th overall pick in the 2010 MLB Draft by the Boston Red Sox. He made his major league debut in August of 2014. The Louisiana State product became the first Red Sox pitcher to win his first three starts.

During the 2015 offseason, Ranaudo was traded to the Rangers.

In addition, Scott Carroll has also been optioned to Triple-A Charlotte. The White Sox will make a corresponding move before Friday night's game against the New York Yankees on CSN.
