White Sox agree to terms with Hawkins

The White Sox have agreed to terms on a minor-league contract with first-round draft pick Courtney Hawkins.

The 18-year-old outfielder out of Corpus Christi, Texas batted .437, including 11 home runs, 39 RBI, 56 runs scored and 17 stolen bases throughout 36 regular season games with the Carroll High School Tigers.

Hawkins' resume includes being named the Second Best Power Hitter among high school players by Baseball America, as well as the ESPNHS Gatorade Texas Baseball Player of the Year. Before being drafted, he signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the University of Texas.

Hawkins will kick off his professional career with the Advanced Rookie Bristol of the Appalachian League.
