White Sox: Conor Gillaspie expected back Thursday in Baltimore

TORONTO -- The same turf that has kept Avisail Garcia sidelined this week is also responsible for Conor Gillaspie’s absence.

White Sox manager Robin Ventura said he has started Gordon Beckham three straight games against the Toronto Blue Jays because the club wants to stay away from Gillaspie, who has dealt with plantar fasciitis since the winter.

Gillaspie is expected to return to the lineup for Thursday’s doubleheader in Baltimore.

“Noticing what happened with Avi the first day, so being cautious,” Ventura said. “We have a lot of games coming up. He’ll be starting at third in Baltimore.”

Gillaspie, who has a .248/.287/.396 slash line with two homers and 10 RBIs, didn’t appear in the series. Garcia, who has right knee inflammation, played 1 1/2 innings on Monday before J.B. Shuck took over.
