White Sox designate Ohman for assignment

MINNEAPOLIS -- The White Sox have designated reliever Will Ohman for assignment on Wednesday, a team source confirmed.Ohman pitched two innings in Wednesdays 12-5 win over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. He allowed three earned runs, two hits and walked one to raise his earned-run average to 6.41.After the game, Ohman told teammates he has been released by the White Sox.A team official later clarified the situation and said Ohman has been designated for assignment. The White Sox will make an official announcement in New York on Thursday as well as name a replacement for Ohman on the 25-man roster.Ohman went 1-3 with a 4.22 ERA in 59 games for the White Sox last season. His salary for the 2012 season is 2.5 million. Ohman originally signed a two-year, 4-million deal with the White Sox in January 2011.
