White Sox morning roundup

From yesterday:

Jerry Reinsdorf released a statement detailing Ozzie Guillen's departure two games before the end of the 2011 season, saying Guillen "left with our organizations blessing and at my urging." Hopefully, this will keep Guillen from unleashing his wrath via twitter, as he promised over the weekend.

Jake Peavy wrote a blog post for us, and says he's primed for a big year because he hasn't had to worry about any rehab work in the offseason. So that's encouraging.

Chris Sale joined Chicago Tribune Live to discuss his move to the starting rotation, Mark Buehrle's move to Miami, John Danks' contract extension and more.

The White Sox are one of four teams that have shown the "most" interest in 18-year-old Cuban lefty Gerardo Concepcion.

Eighteen players received invites to spring training, including prospects Trayce Thompson and Jake Petricka along with a few potential bullpen candidates headlined by Brian Bruney.

Buddy Bell, Nick Capra and Kirk Champion received promotions in the White Sox player development ranks.

Omar Vizquel inked a minor league contract with Toronto with a spring training invite. If he can play his way on to the roster, he'll probably get some game action as a 45-year-old, which is pretty incredible for a middle infielderthird baseman.

Around the division:

The Tigers are one of three teams leading the chase for Yoenis Cespedes. Signing him would probably be a better move than bringing in Juan Pierre or Johnny Damon, to say the least.

Justin Verlander credited Jose Valverde with his success, which is pretty pointless, because Jose Valverde had nothing to do with his success. And yes, I'm actively ignoring W-L records, because those are pointless.
