White Sox Road Ahead: Searching for any signs of life

CSN's Kip Lewis and Bill Melton break down the upcoming matchups in the White Sox Road Ahead, presented by Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Honda Dealers.

The White Sox have lost five in a row and will need to shake things up to get back out of the cellar in the American League Central.

[NBC SHOP: Gear up, White Sox fans!]

And surprisingly enough, Bill Melton believes the answer for the offense starts with...the White Sox pitching.

"I think what they're going to have to do, is you have to count on your starting pitching. You're gonna need to throw seven or eight innings because I know I say it over and over, but in order to come out of a slump - and I'm talking a hitting slump - you need your pitchers to keep the score way down," Melton said. "White Sox need to score early, and the whole pitching staff - along with that bullpen - need to stop the opposition."

See what else Kip and Bill had to say in the video above.

Andrew Vaughn wants to wear No. 99 as homage to Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn

Andrew Vaughn wants to wear No. 99 as homage to Ricky 'Wild Thing' Vaughn

We're not saying Andrew Vaughn is ready for the Major Leagues, but...

Vaughn is, of course, referring to Charlie Sheen's Rick "Wild Thing" Vaughn from the 1989 film 'Major League.' Sheen's character in the movie is a hot-headed, hard-throwing pitcher for the Cleveland Indians with a checkered past. Real-life Andrew Vaughn is a White Sox first base prospect, selected by the team in the first round of the 2019 draft.

So hopefully, outside of their shared last names, there don't end up being too many parallels between the two.

As for Vaughn's wish, the only White Sox player to ever don the No. 99 was Manny Ramirez back in 2010. Big shoes to fill.
