Williams: “We set the price high”

Kenny Williams, speaking with Danny Knobler of CBS Sports, admitted what was presumed all winter: The White Sox were asking for a lot in return for their players.

"We looked to see if we could acquire some of the game's most impactful young players," Williams told Knobler. "Our target list was our target list. We set the price high, and we stuck with it."

The White Sox reportedly asked for top pitching prospects Manny Banuelos and Dellin Betances in exchange for John Danks before signing the lefty to a five-year extension. The demands for Gavin Floyd were probably a little lower, but still high. And perhaps those demands were why Matt Thornton's name didn't appear in any serious trade rumors.
