MESA, Ariz. -- Avisail Garcia was a late scratch from Sunday’s lineup because of a right wrist contusion.

Precautionary X-rays on the White Sox right fielder were negative, a club official said. Garcia had been scheduled to hit fourth and play in right field as the White Sox traveled across the valley to play the Oakland A’s.

Garcia is listed as day to day. He suffered the injury when in pursuit of a hit Saturday he stepped on the ball and slipped on the warning track.

“He was supposed to be playing today,” White Sox manager Robin Ventura said. “He said it was fine and right when we got here I was informed it’s better that he doesn’t play. They got it checked out and he’s fine.

“There’s no break and they’ll just keep treating it and see how it goes.”

The outfielder is hitting .375/.412/.750 with two home runs, four doubles and a triple in 32 at-bats this spring.

Outfielder J.B. Shuck was also scratched from the lineup due to illness.
