The Cubs’ defense left a lot to be desired in 2019, making 116 errors — tied for third worst in MLB. But despite the team’s overall woes, one Cub will be taking home some defensive hardware.

Sunday, MLB announced that Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo is the National League's 2019 Gold Glove Award winner for first base. Rizzo beat out Paul Goldschmidt (Cardinals) and Christian Walker (Diamondbacks).

Rizzo ranked sixth among qualified NL first baseman in Defensive Runs Saved (3) but he tied with Goldschmidt or the least number of errors made (5). It’s the second-straight season Rizzo's won the award and third overall, and he also won in 2016.

Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward was also a Gold Glove finalist (right field). However, he lost out on the award to Dodgers right fielder Cody Bellinger.
