Brewers, Reds won't play Wednesday in protest

The Brewers and Reds agreed not to play their game on Wednesday in protest.

"The players from the Brewers and Reds have decided to not play tonight’s baseball game," a statement from Brewers and Reds players reads. "With our community and our nation in such pain, we wanted to draw as much attention to the issues that really matter, especially racial injustice and systemic oppression."

Kenosha, Wis. police shot 29-year-old Black man Jacob Blake on Sunday. Protests have broken out this week; Milwaukee is 40 miles north of Kenosha.

The decision follows the NBA postponing all of its playoff games on Wednesday after the Bucks decided to not play Game 5 of their quarterfinal series against the Magic in protest.

ESPN's Jeff Passan reported more MLB teams are discussing not playing on Wednesday, including the Mariners.

UPDATE (6:11 p.m.): Mariners voted and decided not to play.
