Cubs' Anthony Rizzo: ‘Tony Two Chains' will return vs. Brewers

Share

Rest assured, Cubs fans. “Tony Two Chains” will return for the Cubs game against the Brewers on Thursday.

“Yeah, he’ll be making his appearance,” said Cubs first baseman Anthony Rizzo Thursday with a laugh. “The gold chains are getting charged up right now.”

Rizzo rocked two gold chain necklaces in Wednesday’s win over Cleveland, grabbing the attention of fans and his team alike. He hit a home run, creating a picturesque gif of him rounding the bases with both chains popping out from under his jersey.

Rizzo said Thursday he also wore the chains in the Cubs intrasquad game on Sunday and “just got the feeling” to throw them on again before Wednesday’s game. Cubs starter Kyle Hendricks petitioned for Rizzo to continue wearing them after Wednesday’s win.

"I mean, he went deep, so he pretty much has to, I think," Hendricks said Wednesday. "You never know what you're gonna get out of him though. He could stick with it, he could change, but we know it's going to be interesting either way."
