Cubs reliever Brad Wieck has scheduled surgery to address a heart condition, the left-hander announced Monday on Twitter.

The operation is set for Aug. 31.

“It’s a very strange/scary feeling to have atrial fibrillation,” read a post on Wieck’s verified Twitter account Monday. “But this life has taught me how to be strong and put faith in God’s plan! Ready to get this taken care of and get back to work 100 %”

Wieck has been on the injured list with an irregular heartbeat since July 7. He also underwent a cardiac ablation last year during spring training, after his pre-camp physical showed an abnormal heartbeat.

Wieck has made 15 appearances for the Cubs this year, without allowing a run.
