The Cubs announced Friday they've canceled all team activities through Monday as MLB and the Players Association determine the next steps for the remainder of spring training.

The team said they're encouraging players to tend to their families as they await an update — which is expected by the end of the weekend.

MLB pushed Opening Day back to April 9 on Thursday due to the ongoing COVID-19 emergency. However, the expectation is baseball will not be played until May, at the earliest, according to ESPN's Jeff Passan. He also reported MLB and the MLBPA met Thursday night to discuss player concerns over remaining in camp at this time.

Friday, the Cubs conducted a deep clean of their spring facility in Arizona. They said this was done out of precaution and they have no suspicion any team employee has contracted the virus.

Monday was a previously-scheduled off day for the club.
