Thursday, the Cubs and Diamondbacks completed their Aug. 31 trade that sent lefty reliever Andrew Chafin to Chicago, with the Cubs sending minor league infielder Ronny Simon to Arizona.
The Cubs acquired Chafin from Arizona at the trade deadline, and the Diamondbacks' return was to be either a player to be named later or a cash consideration.
The Cubs signed Simon, 20, to a minor league deal in 2018, and he played for the Dominican Summer League Cubs from 2018-19.
Chafin made four appearances with the Cubs, allowing a run and two hits in three innings. They acquired him during his stint on the injured list with a left finger sprain and returned from the IL on Sept. 19.
Chafin is now a free agent.
