Cubs outfielders Jason Heyward and Ian Happ donned hair nets and gloves to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day on Monday.

The two joined over 90 Cubs RBI (Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities) All-Star coaches, players and their family members to volunteer at the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Together, they packed 33,330 meals.

Along with being the Cubs’ two best hitters in 2020, Heyward and Happ are known for their work off the field.

Heyward was the Cubs’ nominee for the 2020 Roberto Clemente Award, which honors on-field and philanthropic efforts. His contributions this year included, but were not limited to, large donations to MASK (Mothers/Men Against Senseless Killings), the University of Chicago Medical Center and the Greater Chicago Food Depository. He also joined and volunteered with The Players Alliance.

Happ is the Cubs’ MLB Players Association representative. Over the summer he partnered with Connect Roasters to create “Quarantine Coffee,” a coffee line that donates $3 from every bag sold to COVID-19 relief charities.
