A local suburban Little League team received a heck of a surprise this week in the form of Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant.
With their season on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, a Bartlett Little League team is holding weekly ‘practices’ via Zoom. Bryant made a surprise appearance during their virtual huddle on Friday, and the kids’ reactions were as great as you’d imagine.

We teamed up with @LittleLeague to set up a video chat with the kids’ hometown hero. They talked about tips, tricks and how they are staying active while being part of the #hometeam pic.twitter.com/jACTnwyovM
One player shared his middle name is Anthony and last name is Rizzo, while another asked Bryant how he could get his KB baseball card signed.
Bryant shared his favorite baseball memory — his first Little League home run — and advised the kids to take batting practice with whiffle balls to improve their swings.
To top it all off, Bryant told the team Adidas is going to hook them up with fresh cleats to rock this season.
The appearance is part of Adidas’ “Home Team” campaign — designed to keep fans and communities connected during the nation’s social isolation period.
