Hendricks scratched, Mills to take mound vs. Brewers

Cubs starting pitcher Kyle Hendricks was not feeling well before his scheduled start at Milwaukee on Tuesday, the team announced. So, “out of an abundance of caution” he was scratched from the lineup about 20 minutes before first pitch.

Cubs swingman Alec Mills filled in, set to make his first start of the season. Mills has allowed just one run in 5 2/3 innings of relief this year.

Last season, Mills was the fifth member of the Cubs rotation and threw a no-hitter at Milwaukee in September.

The Cubs have made a flurry of roster moves in the past two days, and now a change to the lineup.

Two Cubs coaches have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past week. No players have tested positive, Cubs manager David Ross said Tuesday, but the Cubs have placed four players on the COVID-19 related injured list.

Players with possible COVID-19 symptoms can also be placed on the COVID-19 related injured list, and Ross said the Cubs have been erring on the side of caution.
