Kyle Schwarber’s first five seasons in the big leagues have been eventful. He burst onto the scene in 2015 and was a force in the postseason. After tearing his ACL early in 2016, he returned for the World Series and put on a show.
Schwarber struggled early in 2017, resulting in a demotion to Triple-A. He’s made strides since returning, delivering a career-year in 2019 behind a monster second half.
But before all of that, Schwarber was a model college roommate at Indiana. Well, at least according to a satirical video from his 2014 junior season.
The video bills Schwarber as “the perfect roommate,” a guy who’s quiet, tidy and hygienic. His personality is at odds with Brian Korte, Schwarber’s roommate, according to the video.

“Rooming with Brian, I got a love-hate relationship,” Schwarber said. “Ever since we’ve been rooming together, we’re really such a team. Our success on the field and my success at the plate, it’s been awesome. But there’s a few things I really don’t like about Brian.
“He’s messy, he’s wild. But probably the thing I hate most is when I’m trying to read, he has these sleep attacks and just can’t control it. It drives me insane.”
The video was clearly made in jest but serves as a good reminder for all you roommates out there. Be more like Kyle, not Brian.
