The Cubs named prospects Brennen Davis and DJ Herz their minor league player and pitcher of the year on Thursday.
Davis, 21, put together a breakout campaign across three levels, batting .260/.375/.494 with 25 doubles, 19 home runs and 53 RBIs in 99 games between Single-A South Bend, Double-A Tennessee and Triple-A Iowa.
With Tennessee's season ending, the Cubs promoted him to Iowa down the stretch in September, where he batted .268/.397/.536 with four home runs in 15 games.

He represented the Cubs in the Futures Game and took home MVP honors after hitting a pair of home runs.

Davis is the Cubs' top prospect and a consensus top-20 prospect in all of baseball on track to debut sometime next season.
Herz, 20, made 20 starts in his first full minor league season, finishing with a 3.31 ERA between low-A Myrtle Beach and South Bend. He struck out 131 batters in 81 2/3 innings.

The lefty was an eighth round pick in 2019 and is the Cubs' No. 13 prospect, per MLB.com.
Additionally, the Cubs announced they have named their Minor League Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year awards after Buck O’Neil and Vedie Himsl.
O'Neil spent 33 seasons in the Cubs organization as a scout, coach and instructor from 1956-88. He signed future Hall of Famers Lou Brock and Lee Smith during his scouting days, and in 1962 joined the Cubs coaching staff, becoming the first African American coach in MLB history.
Himsl spent 32 years in the Cubs organization through 1985. In 1953, he co-authored the final scouting report recommending the Cubs sign Ernie Banks.
He joined the coaching staff in 1960 as pitching coach and was part of their College of Coaches through 1964.
