Nico Hoerner exited Sunday's Giants-Cubs series finale in the sixth inning with right triceps tightness.
Hoerner said he was sore after making a diving stop and throw on a groundball in the fifth. There wasn’t one moment specifically he felt he hurt his arm on that play, but it felt tight afterward.
"[There was] no moment where it was like I felt anything get hurt," Hoerner said. "Just after the play it was tight through that area.
"Went downstairs between innings, talked to the training staff and decided it would be best just to check back in [Monday] and see where I’m at."
Christopher Morel took over at shortstop entering the sixth.
Hoerner, one of the Cubs' steadiest all-around players this season, went 2-for-2 with a double and single, extending his hitting streak to six games, before exiting.
He also made an impressive jump throw from the shortstop hole for a putout in the third.

In his breakout 2022 season, Hoerner is hitting .291/.338/.421 in 125 games while ranking sixth in baseball (second among shortstops) with 13 Outs Above Average.
Morel figures to see time at shortstop if Hoerner misses any time.
