Wisdom ties Bryant for Cubs' rookie HR record

Kris Bryant's Cubs single-season rookie home run record stood for nearly six seasons.

Now, he's got company atop the leaderboard.

Third baseman Patrick Wisdom hit a two-run home run Tuesday against the Phillies, tying Bryant for the most home runs by a rookie in Cubs history (26).

Wisdom sent a low offering from Phillies pitcher Kyle Gibson deep into the night, getting all of the home run. It traveled 447 feet.

The home run was Wisdom's first since Aug. 28, when he hit a pair against the White Sox on the South Side.

The 30-year-old has been a great story for the Cubs this season. When the Cubs called him up from Triple-A in May, he had 43 games of big-league experience.

He burst onto the scene, hitting nine home runs in his first 20 games, and has kept on slugging.

Bryant's 26 home runs in 2015 broke Billy Williams' Cubs rookie record (25) set way back in 1961. He went on to win the 2015 NL Rookie of the Year Award.

With about three weeks left in the season, Wisdom has plenty of time to set another new record.
