Danny Hultzen's big league career is coming to an end, but he's sticking around the North Side.
Hultzen, who made his big league debut with the Cubs in 2019 after a long journey to the majors, will join the club's front office under assistant general manager Craig Breslow, Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post reports.
According to Svrluga, Hultzen will be a pitching development assistant.

The Mariners drafted Hultzen, 31, second overall in the 2011 MLB Draft but the left-hander never pitched in the big leagues with Seattle due to arm injuries. He missed most of 2013 due to injury and all of 2014 after undergoing shoulder surgery.
Hultzen made five minor league appearances from 2015-16 before sitting out the 2017 season while completing his degree at University of Virginia. He joined the Cubs system in 2018 and reached the big leagues for the first time in 2019.
Hultzen made his debut on Sept. 8, 2019, striking out three Brewers in a scoreless inning. In fact, he allowed no runs in six appearances (3 1/3 innings) with the Cubs that season.
The Cubs re-signed Hultzen to a minor league deal for 2020 but he didn't make a big league appearance, training at their South Bend alternate site.
