Rizzo's 10-season run with the Cubs has come to a close, an obviously emotional end to one of the most successful chapters of Cubs history. The first baseman was the original building block of the team that made five postseason berths in six seasons, breaking a 108-year championship drought in 2016.
The Cubs paid tribute to Rizzo, a highly respected player not only in the clubhouse, but also in the community, with a touching video on Twitter.
Rizzo left an indelible mark on the Cubs and city of Chicago, as did the city on him.
"This city will be ingrained in my heart the rest of my life," Rizzo said.
