Cubs-Reds game postponed due to inclement weather, no makeup date announced

Thursday's Cubs-Reds game has been postponed due to inclement weather. No makeup date has been announced.

There's rain in Cincinnati's forecast throughout Thursday night into Friday morning. With COVID-19, postponing games sooner than later limits the amount of time a team spends together indoors, waiting in the clubhouse for a potential window to play.

"You don't want guys sitting around a visiting clubhouse all day," Ross said pregame Thursday. "We've had buses since 1 o'clock coming here. I just don't want my players sitting indoors with all that we're dealing with right now. The sooner we can make a decision on if we think we can play the game or not, the better.

"I think MLB's on board with that as well. We're trying to limit the indoor time."

The Cubs and Reds both have their first days off on Aug. 10. The Cubs play a weekend series in St. Louis Aug. 7-9 and head to Cleveland for two games Aug. 11-12. The Reds play in Milwaukee Aug. 7-9 and host the Royals Aug. 11-12.
