Cubs release Opening Day lineup vs. Brewers, with Nico Hoerner at second base

The Cubs released their 2020 Opening Day lineup for Friday's matchup with the Milwaukee Brewers.

As expected, Kris Bryant and Anthony Rizzo are the 1-2 punch atop the order. Both recently experienced back ailments but manager David Ross has said this week he expected both to play on Opening Day.

Kyle Schwarber is in left field, with backup catcher Victor Caratini at DH. Ross said throughout Summer Camp that Schwarber wouldn't be limited to a DH role; Caratini offers a contact-oriented, switch-hitting bat.

Nico Hoerner will start at second base over Jason Kipnis, a semi-surprise because Brewers Opening Day starter Brandon Woodruff is a right-hander.

Here is the lineup:

3B Kris Bryant
1B Anthony Rizzo
SS Javier Báez
LF Kyle Schwarber
C Willson Contreras
RF Jason Heyward
DH Victor Caratini
2B Nico Hoerner
CF Ian Happ

P Kyle Hendricks
