Presented By Cubs Insiders

The baseball season is on hold indefinitely, but teams are still able to make transactions. The Cubs completed one on Monday, though it’s hardly going to make waves.

Remember when the Cubs traded for Travis Lakins in January? It would be OK if not because the Cubs lost him to Baltimore via waivers 10 days later anyway.

When the Cubs traded the Lakins on January 21, they sent Boston “future considerations.” On Monday, the Red Sox announced that they received minor league catcher Jhonny Pereda from the Cubs to complete the deal.

Lakins is a 25-year-old pitcher who posted a 3.86 ERA in 23 1/3 innings with the Red Sox last year. Pereda is a 23-year-old catcher who hit .241 with a .641 OPS in Double-A last season.

It’s not an earth shattering move, but, hey, it’s just refreshing to write about actual baseball things at the moment.
