Cubs starter Yu Darvish put together a masterful 2020 season, sporting a 2.01 ERA in 12 starts. His eight wins tied for first in baseball with Cleveland's Shane Bieber.
Darvish is the first Japanese pitcher in MLB history to finish first in wins and the Consulate-General of Japan in Chicago honored him for the achievement.
Thursday, Darvish met with Consul-General Kenichi Okana, a rep of the Japanese government, and received the Consul-General’s Commendation.
Darvish could receive another prestigious honor next month. He's a top contender for the NL Cy Young Award.
