Ross: Bryant is 'on the right path' in injury recovery

Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant is scheduled for a light workout day at Wrigley Field on Saturday. Placed on the 10-day injured list last week, he remains day-to-day with a sprained left ring finger and a left wrist injury that required an injection last week.

“Every day we're adjusting,” Cubs manager David Ross said. “We're listening to him and seeing how things are going. So, he's on the right path. We continue to try to get him at-bats as much as we can, up until we all feel that he's ready to come off (the IL).”

Bryant and outfielder Steven Souza Jr. (right hamstring strain) each had five at-bats at the Cubs' South Bend alternate site on Friday. To ease the burden of travel from Chicago, coaches met them at Wrigley on Saturday.

Both players are eligible to return from the IL whenever they are cleared to play. Bryant and Souza have both missed just shy of two weeks for their respective injuries.
