Count Cubs manager David Ross as a fan of the strong message Kris Bryant had for critics on Saturday.
Bryant has been the subject of criticism during his pandemic season, whether it be due to his numbers in a small sample size or injuries. When asked about that criticism Sunday, the Cubs third baseman flatly said, “I don’t give a sh**.”
Ross didn’t see Bryant’s interview on Saturday but offered support Sunday when informed by media what the third baseman said.
“For Kris Bryant to say I don’t give a sh**, I think that’s a powerful statement,” Ross said. “That makes me smile. I like that.
“I tell him all the time he needs more I-don’t-give-a-sh**. I hadn’t used the word sh** It’s good he’s getting to that space.”
Bryant, who hit a grand slam in his return to the lineup Saturday, carried over his hot bat on Sunday. He hit a home run in the second inning against the White Sox.
