DeJesus: Javy Baez ‘wants to prove that he's the best shortstop in the game'

Javy Baez cut his teeth at second base, growing into one of the game's premier players at the position.

Now he wants to do it at shortstop.

Today on the NBC Sports MLB Preview Show, Cubs player-turned-analyst David DeJesus talked about what Javy Baez is out to prove after his MVP-caliber campaign in 2018:

I was talking to Javy at the convention and he wants to have another big year. That's what being a big-leaguer is: showing consistency. Now with Javy being at shortstop each and every day, he wants to prove to the league that he's the best Latino shortstop first off, and he's the best shortstop in the game. I think he's going to go out with a sense of urgency. He's going to come out of the gates hard and strong, so watch for a big year from Javy.
