Bryce Harper's flirtation with the Cubs has been long-documented.
Between having a dog named Wrigley and Harper's friendship with Kris Bryant, Cubs fans have run wild anticipating the Nationals' star outfielder joining the Cubs this offseason as a free agent.
Wednesday, another layer was added to the Harper-to-the-Cubs rumors from none other than the Cubs' Twitter account.
There is no substance to this, but regardless, it is going to be a long year of anticipation before Harper's free agency finally ends the rumors about where he is or is not headed.
Either way, it's fun to see the two teams referring to Harper and Anthony Rizzo as the best leadoff hitters in baseball. The Nationals' caption is a clear (joking) shot at Rizzo, as Cubs fans have taken to calling him "the greatest leadoff hitter of all-time."
