Joe Maddon says his pipe dream is to beat the Cubs in the World Series in introductory press conference with Angels

For the majority of Joe Maddon's introductory press conference in Anaheim on Thursday, the former Cubs skipper dealt in platitudes when referring to his time in Chicago. But in his closing remarks, he made a playful jab at his former employer:

"I could not be more proud of that group. I wish them nothing but the best," Maddon began, shortly after reflecting on the three straight NLCS appearances and World Series title he achieved on the North Side. "The ultimate goal... We play them in the World Series and beat 'em. That would be my pipe dream right there."

Cameras flash. Presser concludes.

It's clear that there's nothing but mutual appreciation and respect between Maddon and Cubs brass, but the moment added a fun flare to the beginning of Maddon's post-Cubs career. If it means a return to championship contender status, Cubs fans would surely sign up for a reunion with Maddon on the sport's grandest stage.
