Joe Maddon's first pitch at the Little League World Series didn't go as planned

Look man, we've seen it time and time again. Throwing out first pitches at MLB games is a lot easier said than done.

Case in point: back in May, a White Sox employee threw out the first pitch at Guaranteed Rate Field back. Except, the pitch didn't make it to the plate, drilling a nearby cameraman instead.

Sunday, the Cubs and Pirates visited the Little League World Series in Williamsport, PA, ahead of their matchup that night. Cubs manager Joe Maddon threw out the first pitch before the Hawaii-New Jersey matchup, needing three tries to get the ball out of the dirt.

Reminder: the Little League mound in Williamsport is 46 feet from home plate. Maddon had a simple explanation for what happened afterward, however.

It's okay, Joe. You'll get it next time.
