Latest El Mago trick: Báez makes boos disappear in walkoff

They're not booing Javy Báez and the Mets in New York tonight.

After a whirlwind few days stemming from Báez and some of his teammates' thumbs-down celebration directed at Mets fans, El Mago made the boos disappear on Tuesday.

The former Cubs shortstop raced around the bases to score the winning run against the Marlins, capping off the Mets' four-run, ninth-inning rally.

Báez reached base on an RBI infield single, cutting New York's deficit to 5-4. He scored from first one pitch later on Michael Conforto's single to left field, beating the throw home with a headfirst slide.

The moment came an inning after Mets fans greeted Báez, who was not in the starting lineup, with a chorus of boos as he stepped up to pinch hit —  along with their own thumbs-down gestures.

Báez and Lindor issued apologies before Tuesday's game.
