Cubs prospect Brennen Davis put on a show in the MLB All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, blasting two homers in the National League squad’s 8-3 win.

He became the third player to do so in Futures Game history, joining Alfonso Soriano (1999) and Yusniel Diaz (2018).

“I was just hoping to come out here and have 2, 3 good at-bats, really just have fun and enjoy the moment, embrace it,” Davis said and then smiled. “To make hard contact and be at high elevation with big-league (baseballs) is  kind of nice.

For his fireworks display, Davis was named the Futures Game MVP.

Right-hander Manuel Rodriguez, the other Cubs prospect in the game, showed off his velocity in a scoreless frame. After walking prospect Julio Rodriguez to open the inning, Rodriguez settles in to induce a ground-ball double play from Cleveland’s Bo Naylor and strike out the Athletics’ Tyler Soderstrom.

He touched 100 mph in the outing.
