MLB Power Rankings 2021: AL, NL Wild Card spots up for grabs

If August is any indication of what September will look like, the AL and NL Wild Card races will go down to the wire.

At least five AL teams are in the thick of the race. The Yankees pace the field, taking hold of the top spot during a torrid August.

Behind New York, the A's and Red Sox are neck and neck for the second spot, and the Mariners and Blue Jays can't be counted out with a week to go before September.

The Dodgers hold a firm grip on the NL's top wild-card spot but have their sights on an NL West crown. Behind them, the Reds overtook the Padres for the second spot.

San Diego's struggles opened the door for Cincinnati, and now, the Cardinals are gaining ground in the race. The Phillies and Mets are further back but stand a fighting chance.

Here's how all 30 teams stack up in the MLB Power Rankings entering the last week of August.
