Cubs Twitter reacts to Javy Báez trade


It's been a rough 24 hours for Cubs fans.

The Cubs have traded some of the most iconic players and biggest fan favorites in recent memory. Anthony Rizzo was shipped to the Yankees Thursday night, and Javy Báez is following him to New York.

The Cubs dealt Báez and starter Trevor Williams to the Mets before Friday's trade deadline.

Oh, and the Cubs dealt Kris Bryant to the Giants, and closer Craig Kimbrel to the crosstown White Sox Friday afternoon.

None of the trades may sting more than Báez, the Cubs' 2011 first-round pick who ascended from a strong defender at multiple positions to a two-time All-Star, Gold Glove Award winner and MVP runner-up who helped bring a championship to Chicago in 2016.

Báez will team up with good friend Francisco Lindor in New York, giving the Mets one of the most electric middle infields in the game.
