Nico Hoerner talks balancing college and preparing for 2020 MLB season

The life of a college student is a job in itself. Balancing class, homework, extra-curricular activities, employment and a personal life is no joke.

Now, imagine doing that, all while training for an MLB season.

Cubs infielder Nico Hoerner went back to class this past fall, finishing his final trimester at Stanford after the 2019 season ended. The 22-year-old made his debut on Sept. 9, when the Cubs were still in the mix for a postseason spot.

Stanford’s fall term beings the third week of the month, so Hoerner, whose degree is in American Studies, only missed a week of class while getting his first taste of the big leagues.

The Cubs YouTube channel caught up with Hoerner this offseason, documenting his life as a student-(professional) athlete. Check it out:

Honestly, besides the whole professional baseball player thing, Hoerner spent his time like any college kid. Who doesn’t love a good Taco Tuesday dinner with friends, am I right?
