Report: Given the choice, Bryce Harper would prefer as many years of guaranteed money as he can get

Here's a tweet you will all get a kick out of:

*chef finger kiss*

This tweet perfectly sums up this offseason, in that:

- It contains no real insight. We're all obligated to tweet and write updates about Harper/Machado because that's the job and people eat it up, but there has not been real news on either in months, so here we are.
- It casually glazes over the fact that MLB teams remain vigilant about shortchanging generational free agents
- Implies blame at Harper for not being open to taking less than he's worth. If you don't believe me, look at the replies:

There are dozens and dozens more just like this, but you get the point. It's stretching it to classify the notion that "Bryce Harper doesn't want to get underpaid for his services" as news, but that's where MLB is right now.

What does this mean for the Cubs and White Sox? Nothing! At the end of the day, they'll both sign the best offer that comes across their desks. This is just posturing, which is a fun chess game in early-Decemeber but has outsayed its welcome by mid-February.
