It's the 20th anniversary of the Summer of Sammy, when Sosa and Mark McGwire went toe-to-toe in one of the most exciting seasons in American sports history chasing after Roger Maris' home run record. All year, we're going to go homer-by-homer on Sosa's 66 longballs, with highlights and info about each. Enjoy.

Three games against the White Sox, three homers for Sammy Sosa.

Slammin' Sammy went yard for the third straight game on June 7, 1998, taking James Baldwin deep as part of a 13-7 Cubs victory to sweep the Crosstown series at Wrigley.

Sosa's 3-run shot in the fifth inning rounded out the Cubs' scoring on the day as they hammered out 14 hits against five different White Sox pitchers.

Fun fact: Mark Grace and Mickey Morandini each had 3 hits in the game, to raise their respective season averages to .349 and .337. Combined with Sosa's .343 average, the Cubs were an offensive juggernaut in that first week of June in 1998.
