Craig Kimbrel has worn the number 46 over the course of his MLB career, but on the Cubs that 46 belongs to fellow reliever Pedro Strop.

Will Strop give Kimbrel his number 46 or will Kimbrel pick a new number?

At Kimbrel's introductory press conference on Friday, we found out Kimbrel will wear the number 24.

"It just kind of came to me," Kimbrel told reporters when asked why he settled on 24. "There is really no reason. I like the number. It looks like an athletic number and I like to think I'm an athlete at times."

In sports, sometimes long time veterans get new teammates to give them their preferred number but typically those situation involve younger or new players. Strop has been a consistent presence in the Cubs bullpen for years and doesn't really fit that mold and it doesn't sound like Kimbrel even entertained asking Strop about the 46 jersey.
