Wednesday afternoon, MLB Network's Jon Heyman dropped this nugget on the state of negotiations between MLB and the MLBPA.
Shortly thereafter, multiple other MLB insiders gave conflicting reports on negotiations between the league and union, stating no deal for a 2020 season is close. The players union even refuted the report of an agreement altogether.
MLB and the players have been quarreling over financial proposals for two months, so until a deal is in place, one is naturally going to be skeptical. Cubs catcher Willson Contreras summed up everyone's emotions as the reports flooded in.
No deal is in place, but the fact the two sides are *actually* negotiating is still a bit of positive news.
