Two of golf’s biggest stars are teaming up with two of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in “The Match” charity golf event. In the fourth iteration of this one-of-a-kind event, Phil Mickelson and Tom Brady are back to take on a new pair, Bryson DeChambeau and Aaron Rodgers.

Mickelson and DeChambeau will hope to play better than they did this weekend at the Rocket Mortgage Classic, where Mickelson finished 74th and DeChambeau didn’t even make the cut.

Mickelson and Brady have been trash-talking their opponents since the event was announced, and the ribbing will continue through all 18 holes as the players will be mic’d up.

Brady has been getting in some practice in hopes of securing the win after he and Mickelson lost last May in “The Match II” to Tiger Woods and Peyton Manning:

Which superstar pairing will come out on top? Here’s everything you need to know about “The Match”:

How can I watch “The Match”?

TNT, TBS and truTV will broadcast the event at 5 p.m. ET on Tuesday, July 6. The four golfers will be playing in Big Sky, Mont., at The Reserve at Moonlight Basin course, which was designed by the legendary Jack Nicklaus in 2016.

What is the format of “The Match”?

The pairings will use alternate-shot match play. Both players will hit off the tee. Whichever ball was hit better will be used for the rest of the hole, with the person who didn’t hit it first taking the second shot. The first player will hit the third shot, and they’ll alternate until someone gets the ball in the hole.

What does “The Match” raise money for?

This rendition of “The Match” will raise money for Feeding America and other charities.

Last November, when Mickelson and Charles Barkley defeated Manning and Stephen Curry, the event raised $4.4 million for historically Black colleges and universities. In May 2020, “The Match II” was hugely successful, collecting $20 million for COVID-19 relief. The first-ever edition was not a charity event but a head-to-head between Mickelson and Woods. Lefty came out on top and won a $9 million purse.

Who is favored to win “The Match”?

DeChambeau and Rodgers are the favorites at -190 to +130 for Mickelson and Brady, according to the latest odds on PointsBet.
