Last week, the Blackhawks asked their fans to vote on awards including best forward, best defenseman and MVP. On Friday, the Hawks released the results of the Fans Choice Awards.
Despite missing 23 games with a concussion, Jonathan Toews was named the best forward and team MVP. The captain scored 29 goals and had 28 assists for 57 points in 59 games and was among the NHL's point leaders when he went out with the injury on Feb. 21.
Toews returned for the playoffs and scored two goals -- including the overtime-winner in Game 5 -- in the six games vs. Phoenix.
Brent Seabrook was named the team's best defenseman by the fans after potentially the best season of his career in 2011-12. Seabrook tied for ninth among NHL defenseman with 198 hits, blocked 165 shots and was a plus-21 -- the second-highest rating on the team. Seabrook also found his offense late in the season, recording four goals and six assists in the lat 14 games.
Do you agree with the fans choice for these honors? If not, who would be your pick and why?
