German fans taunt opponent with Nazi salute

From Comcast SportsNet
KAISERSLAUTERN, Germany (AP) -- The German soccer team Kaiserslautern has reported a group of fans to police for allegedly giving Nazi salutes to an Israeli player. The struggling Bundesliga club says the salutes toward striker Itay Shechter were made during practice Sunday, one day after a 4-0 loss at Mainz dropped Kaiserslautern to next to last. Kaiserslautern says fewer than 10 people took part, and they belong to a group of hooligans that has been banned from games for years. The club has asked police to investigate and possibly file charges and has urged fans to identify the perpetrators. The team adds says in a statement it "distances itself expressly from any form of racism, discrimination or anti-Semiticism."

NFL Week 11 Power Rankings: We're going to put someone else at #1, just for fun

FINALLY.

It's been 10 weeks of LA-based Power Rankings domination. The Rams -- and to a slighly-less amount, the Chargers -- have dominated the top of these here Power Rankings for far too long.

This week? A new #1 reigns. It's New Orleans' time to shine.

We didn't forget the Bears, obviously, who sprinted their way straight into the Top 10.

How'd your team do this week? You can find out right here.

Preseason Preps Basketball Power Rankings: No. 11 Benet

Benet

2017-18 record: 27-5, 8-1 East Suburban Catholic

Postseason results: Lost to Larkin in Class 4A super-sectionals.

Players to watch: Returning starters include senior forward Will Engels and junior center Colin Crothers while the program also received a surprising Division I prospect transfer in 6-foot-6 forward Kendrick Tchoua.

Why they're in the power rankings: Benet would probably be ranked without the addition of another Division I prospect, but the frontcourt of Engels, Crothers and Tchoua figures to be one of the area's best. The Redwings should once again be a major factor in the East Suburban Catholic Conference as long as their guard play can match teams like St. Viator.

Did you know? Benet has nine consecutive 20-win seasons under head coach Gene Heidkamp as he's built a consistent winner. The Redwings have won four sectional titles and made two state finals appearances during that nine-year run.
