Hawk apologizes to umpire for rant

Umpire Mark Wegner's decision to throw White Sox pitcher Jose Quintana out of the game last Wednesday after a wild pitch didn't go over well, and television broadcaster Ken 'Hawk' Harrelson sure didn't hide his feelings.

After a long rant, criticizing the umpire's legitimacy and umpiring abilities, Harrelson felt guilty about his harsh words and decided to apologize to Wegner.

"No one told me to do it," Harrelson said. "I felt bad after I sat down and thought about it, so I called him and left him a message."

When speaking with the media on Friday, Harrelson said he would "do everything in my power to not let it happen again." But the 28-season vet says he'd rather quit than change his style of broadcasting.
